What is a media player / TV BOX / TV set-top box?

A media player, or TV BOX, or TV set-top box, is a device that enables conventional TVs that are not capable of playing movies or videos on their own. Of course, it can also be used with TVs that have this capability, if your TV system is not satisfactory.
